Re: Beautiful Bowl/Terrible Pic

Roger - that looks like quite the bowl. Nice form and from what I could see in the second photo, it is some really pretty wood. I took the liberty of trying to lighten up the image and remove a couple of the hotspots. You are correct - nothing works better than the correct lighting and a good camera...

Re: Bye way of introduction.

Rob - very nice work. I am very impressed with the super clean lines in the texture. Must be a result of some of those jigs you mentioned earlier. We try to keep images down to 1000-1024 pixels on the long side (with file sizes less than 150 kb) simply because we have experienced display problems wi...

Re: Another Copy

Well, the pattern exists but I wasn't able to find any info as to pattern name. Here is a link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/219495562/sisal-grass-coil-basket-large-native?show_sold_out_detail=1 I like it! Very interesting/busy pattern - reminds me of the sun. Love the colors! Good luck in finding o...

Re: Pewa Practice

Haven't done any pewas yet but it looks pretty cool. I assume you had to use a state of the art Pewa cutter? I like the bowl - nice form and thickness! Judging by the number of small holes, I am guessing this would make for a good popcorn bowl!

Curt - man, I have to say that this piece impresses me! Love the 'old' effect that the green wood added and your beads/burns really make the pot look original and like something you would hope to find in a museum out west. Very nice work! Looking forward to seeing your next creation!

I really like the form Les! This will look great in your gallery display. Hope you are turning a bunch more because I don't think this will be sitting there very long. Good luck with your sales!

Re: Flower Follow Up

I think the paint is a pretty cool effect. I do like the larger exposed wood portion on the Bad Pizza version as I find the Flower version ratio of wood to paint not quite as pleasing. Just an opinion. Looking forward to seeing more of these!

John, if you can resize the photos to 1024 pixels on the long side and no larger than 150kb file size, you shouldn't have any issues uploading them.

I like the variation to your legged bowl theme. I know some people love things to be round and some will prefer the long/thin leg variety but the real proof is in the sales. Good luck with that!

Hi John and welcome to our site! Lots of folks here to help answer your questions but probably the best bit of advice we can offer is to get with your local woodturning club and get some hands-on time before you think about buying any tools. You may already know of a local turning club, but if not, ...

Wow - great bowl and congrats on your sale! Love the V bowl form and the thin legs. Gives it a real retro look and yet has a very modern art feel to it. I think you have found a winning form combination and your sale proves that you are on to something. Thanks for sharing! 2thumbsup
