Re: Amphora Verde

Very nice work Bob and congrats on getting accepted to the POP show! Quite a lot of movement going on in this piece - and it all works well together to keep your eyes moving. I really like the contrast between color and texture. Looking forward to seeing additional photos.

Re: A Geometer's Treasure box

Congrats on getting accepted to the show Mike! Well deserved! Not surprised to see mathematical elements in your work but found the box itself really grabbed my attention. Love the form and that wood is amazing! Good luck at the show - I hope this piece commands big money!! Thanks for sharing! 2thum...

Chuck - I think you did a really nice job not only on the goblet but on the artwork adorning it! Doesn't look like you are going to have any issues with your demo - but I want to wish you good luck with it just the same!

Re: BUGS

I have had worms in white birch and carpenter ants in maple and cherry burls! The ants were a lot more fun as they stuck to the wall and everything else in the line of fire - then started running away! One of those times I appreciated having a shop-vac!!

OK, got the photo and will attempt to upload. 1st attempt plum 6 in (2).JPG Not sure what to say Curt. I did not change a thing. Probably has nothing to do with anything but I have had problems in the past just because of the title of an image. Maybe shorten the title and remove the (). Sometimes st...

Re: Can't add photos

Curt, if you remember, we had a few issues with the 'Lightbox' program that we use to enlarge the thumbnail images. Don't know if that is the case here or not but have a few questions for you: What are the pixel dimensions of the image you are trying to upload? And, does that image still have its me...

Re: A Bit Chilly Today

WOW - I feel for both you guys - seriously! Granted, it gets cold up here but it is expected at this time of year. Down South however is a total different thing! Nothing is insulated, critters are not used to the temps and folks have ZERO knowledge of how to drive if it snows! I still remember livin...

Re: Renaissance Wax

Thanks for that Steve, I wonder can you apply it on the lathe at low speed to get the lapping aspect for large vessels? I do all my finishing off the lathe, so no idea if lap marks would still show up or not. The wax is strange when compared to other waxes in that you just wipe it on, then wipe it ...

That's really cool Curt! The only woodburning I have done was when I burned a couple of eyes into my maple snowmen - so I won't be much help as far as suggestions. You'll have to reach out to Cynthia Gibson to find out when she will be in your area. I know she teaches classes all over and would be t...

Re: Renaissance Wax

Hughie, I have it and use it on everything. It is expensive but it works. What I like most about it is it does not show moisture/water/fingerprints. It is simple to apply and you just wipe on/wipe off. I have tried buffing it but found NO difference as it does not spread through heat. I did discover...
