Re: Greetings from Middle Georgia

I'm glad you found us Terry. Please feel free to jump in and post some of your work. Friendly bunch of folks here, at least the ones that aren't frozen in for the winter, like we are here in Tennessee...and the UP of Michigan, or so I've heard.:D

Re: Still Fresh Out There!

Fresh? Hmmm, might be a bit beyond that. We're having one heck of a winter here too. We've always liked snow and winter weather. Another week or two of this may change our minds. We had 6-7" of snow Friday, on top of a "wintery mix". Major highways are fairly clear, but where it is packed on the cou...

Re: Grape Juice Container

Thanks for the comments folks, I appreciate it. Jim, I used Faber Castell Pitt pens. I first tried Copic pens on some holly I was using a while back and the ink spread way too much. I mentioned it to Steve Mawson and IIRC he said it was probably because the Copic ink was alcohol based. He suggested ...

I sorta interlocked a couple on one I was making today. I looked away for a moment, jammed the tool between two rings and the stem, shattered all three parts. Maybe I should try that at the demo to see who is paying attention.

Man that looks different than when you started whining about not being able to post it a few days ago.

I'm impressed. Seriously impressed.

Don't suppose there is any chance you are going to tell us the story about that burnt spot at about 12:20?

Grape Juice Container

I agreed to do a demonstration on goblets at our local club in February. I figure I'd better learn how to do them. Repetition drives me nuts so I added a couple rings to this one and played with my wood burner and some ink pens I bought recently.

Re: Who Laid This Egg?

Yes Mike, I was browsing around the site and it dawned on me that the TOTW archive is quite a nice and varied collection of work. Fifty-two photos on each yearly page makes for some interesting viewing. Also a lot of good photos and reading in the "Behind the Arts" and other articles there. Too bad ...

Re: Who Laid This Egg?

Curt you are correct. I believe you have broken the code. I wonder how many users of this site are actually aware of that storehouse of about 60 excellent woodturned pieces (including maybe a couple flatwork). That is without even counting all the interesting work in the other sections of this site.

Re: Who Laid This Egg?

No it wasn't David, but that's a good try.

We'd best watch what we say about David. He's still sneaking in here frequently to see what's going on. I'm betting he will be back active here one day.

Ray, This is a big broad subject. I have spent about 18 years playing with my portable sawmill and I've made about every ignorant mistake possible in storing lumber. I would never pretend to give a short answer to this complex subject. What I will do is suggest some serious use of the internet. A go...

Who Laid This Egg?

We haven't done one of these "Can You Guess..." lately. So can you guess who made this?
First posted here a few years ago by someone who was very active until recently. But hasn't been around much lately.

Re: Can't add photos

Good job Charlie, thanks for your help. This doesn't solve the problem because it's quite likely that if we said everyone has to remove the EXIF and/or Meta Data from their photos before posting them it would probably reduce the activity on this board considerably. It's possible many other folks are...

Curt, With all due respect sir... and all that bs :D ... if the upload says the photo is the size you indicate I'm going to put my money on the fact you are mistakenly trying to upload the original photo from your camera. Double check the location and name of the photo you are browsing to when you g...

Somewhere on the internet last night I saw a fantastic, almost unbelievable photo of fireworks over the Sydney Opera House. Can't find it now. Found a bunch of good ones but not the one I remember from last night. Anyway, I hope you have a great year.

That is some outstanding work. Hard to imagine how you got a club motivated to turn out all these. I have seen mention of a program relating to this, but I don't remember much about what I read.

Re: A Bit Chilly Today

We're pretty well insulated as long as I remember to make the rounds and check out the heaters in two attics, two shops, and three well houses. I haven't had any fire and only a small heater on low in my shop for a couple days and it was 53f when I went in there this morning. We are down to four qua...

A report from the balmy south. localweather.JPG We have all the animals comfortably tucked in somewhere tonight.
